History: The first project to link both towns and the M.Z.A. company railway station in Mataró was born in 1918 but works did not began until 1927. The service grew as did the Mataró population and this lead to the need for more trams and also a second and strictly urban route was put in service. A river flood withdrawn the line bridge and services never resumed.
Furthermore: The line was established as a single track and passing loops and built with 'Phoenix' track in the Mataró city and with 'Vignole' type else. The fleet had a wide origin and most of it remains in Mataró. One car ex-Gijón (nº. 7) was scrapped some time after the closure.
