How to use an inventel wireless device

Who can I use an Inventel Wanadoo wireless USB?

First you have to download the driver from: http://atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net/news.html

Follow the instructions (beware with the problem using the usb-uhci module). If you don't want to compile nothing put this module in the plug&play black list (/etc/hotplug/blacklist) or change the usb-uhci by uhci in the file /etc/modules.conf

After this, install the iwconfig and make this file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-atml0 with this:

					DEVICE=atml0
					BOOTPROTO=static
					IPADDR=X.X.X.X
					NETMASK=X.X.X.X
					NETWORK=X.X.X.X
					BROADCAST=X.X.X.X
					ONBOOT=no
					ESSID=X
					CHANNEL=X
					KEY="open [1] x-x-x-x"

If you use DHCP have to change BOOTPROTO. Other important thing is that your ESSID have to be 10 characters maximum, other way the tarjet don't make the link. Don't forget this tarjet only support WEP and not WAP.

If you read the ifcfg manual you can see more things could be configured but the mandatory file is ifup-wireless script.

At last add some lines to the ifup-wireless file to make automatic the link.

When you disconnect the wireless device you have to do: /etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop /etc/rc.d/init.d/network start (I suppose it can be done automaticly but I don't know how).
