In politics, anything is more absurd and more dangerous than to get lost in ideological principles and to move himself one away from the reality

ETA y el Parlamento Europeo

En política, nada es más absurdo y peligroso que perderse en principios ideológicos y alejarse de la realidad. Y la realidad del terrorismo etarra es una: a Miguel Ángel Blanco lo secuestraron, lo escondieron atado de pies y manos en un pequeño zulo durante 48 horas y no le dieron comida ni bebida. Dicen que sudó mucho durante esas horas. Después lo llevaron a una cuneta, lo pusieron de rodillas y le descerrajaron dos tiros en la nuca. Eso es todo. Más allá de comunicados, de encuestas, de propaganda pactista, recordemos que esto es ETA y a ésto se dedica. A esto y a otras cosas igualmente edificantes; lanzar un camión bomba contra los niños de la Casa Cuartel de Vic, reventar en hora punta un Hipercor catalán, pegarle fuego a la Plaza de la República Dominicana, enterrar vivo a Ortega Lara. Todos estos actos fueron ordenados por la cúpula etarra, la que hace cálculos, ordena atentados, organiza actos y elabora comunicados. La misma cúpula con la que ahora se sienta a dialogar Zapatero. Conviene no olvidar que cada uno es responsable de sus actos; y Zapatero lo es de sentarse a dialogar con quien se sienta. Allá su estómago; el ansia infinita de paz parece ser un antiácido muy potente. La última maniobra del Gobierno tiene lugar en Estrasburgo. Allí, los voceros del terrorismo se pasean por los despachos y se entrevistan con sus señorías eurodiputados, que les reciben solemnemente. Orgullosos por su solidaridad, se preparan para debatir y aprobar una moción de apoyo al pacto de Zapatero con ETA. Están muy preocupadas, sus señorías, por la paz. Eso sí, no tienen un mísero minuto de sus adietadas agendas para recibir a la AVT, la Fundación Miguel Ángel Blanco o al Foro Ermua, que se vuelven sin hacerse oír en tan ocupado foro.
La clase política europea está radiante de su gallardo empujón a la paz. El socialista alemán Martin Schulz afirma que "hay que discutirlo ahora y explicar que el Parlamento Europeo, en su gran mayoría, está en favor de este proceso". Enrique Barón, acusa al PP de "fanatismo y sectarismo"; precisamente él, cuyo partido toma café con Arnaldo Otegui. A los socialistas europeos se les unieron los liberales de ALDE –que conciben la libertad sólo al norte de los Pirineos–, Los Verdes –más sensibles a la suerte de las acacias que a la de los concejales españoles– y la Izquierda Unitaria, cuyo modelo de democracia se sitúa en aguas caribeñas. Todos ellos aplauden "sacando pecho" que se negocie con los asesinos confesos. Y las víctimas... esas que esperen.
Los mismos que antes se ponían delante de la manifestación cuando José María Aznar acorraló a los criminales etarras, ahora se dan codazos para figurar en la foto del diálogo con ETA. Tantas declaraciones de firmeza, de apoyo frente al terrorismo, de declaraciones éticas, se convierten en cháchara cuando las mayorías parlamentarias lo exigen y cuando el juego de poder en la Eurocámara y en los Estados miembros cambia. Sus señorías no dudan en dar con la puerta en las narices a las víctimas y recibir como héroes a sus verdugos cuando los socialistas españoles les piden ayuda para pactar con ETA con la oposición de media España; Es la política, amigos.
Esto es Europa, estas son sus instituciones y estos son sus parlamentarios.
Cualquier alusión a los principios, a la decencia, al apoyo incondicional a las
víctimas o represaliados desaparece cuando la mayoría lo necesita. Hacen falta
pocos escrúpulos para ello, pero al menos demuestra que la Vieja Europa no está
sólo liderada por la cobardía y los complejos. Está gobernada por el cinismo y
la hipocresía, lo peor de su tradición política. Y es que Europa se está
convirtiendo en un profundo pozo de corrupción moral e intelectual. Eso sí,
dando lecciones por el mundo. Y con mucha gallardía.
