"El Melión" is ideal for nature lovers, artists, stargazers, birdwatchers
and walkers or those who simply love to get away from it all.
In
front of the house, a track winds down to the south with old ruins,
a threshing circle, goat paths and abandoned olive farms. Behind the
house, more intriguing paths lead off the main track, tempting you off
to visit other ruins and overgrown drives or simply gaze in awe at the
mountains to the north. If you are the more adventurous type that likes
to head off across open country, descending gorges and clambering up
through rocky hillsides then the surrounding wildness will more than
keep you busy. Valleys abound behind the house that take you deep into
the sierras.
There are many large terraces to relax on and numerous outdoor dining
tables as well as two barbecues. Try breakfasting on one of the lower
terraces under the shade of an olive tree and looking down to the sea
and the fruit valleys of the Rio Verde.
By night unrivalled views of the Milky Way, falling stars and the moon
are accompanied by the hoot of the scops owl and the tinkle of wind
chimes.
The house is supplied with water from our own spring but we also supply
bottles of the best drinking water which comes from a fountain nearby.
Figs, almonds, olives and blackberries can be picked round about at
various times of the year.
