Small part of the Arpacats history;
Arpacats was crated by ARturo & PAtxi, by our love for the cats, we choose for himalayan type, because we ever think that is one of the most difficult race to improve, we always liked the challenges, by our point of view, one pure persian can be improved in one generation, the himalayan (and other races too like the silvers....)... normally you must wait two generations to see if your "breeding way" give the expect results.
We feel that all breeds of cats are beautiful, but Colorpoint Persians are so special, so elegant, with their wonderful pattern and deep blue eyes that they inherit from an ancestral cross with a cat with the Siamese gene and we ever think that is one of the most difficult race to improve.
This particular gene works in a very particular way, it produces pigmentation only in the colder areas of the body, the rest being almost pure white, and also alway brings along those mysterious indigo eyes.
For us this is the epithome of beauty, the cat we'd really love to breed and show.
In 1996 we started a small in Spain, serious and responsible breeding program with the betterment of the breed in mind.
We first got in contact with several breeders and attended many shows trying to learn as much as we could, but it certainly hasn't been an easy road.
Finally, we've been fortunate enough to be able to acquire the breeding stock we need, for which we thank those breeders for the trust vested upon us.
We try to help to anyone whose like to learn about himalayan. (in some cases there is not more deaf who dont like to hear) if you think the way to improve the race is buying cats with pedigrees with lot of GC, you are in big part wrong. The pedigree is not just a paper to show to your friends, there is lot to learn about that.
I now hope to improve my breeding, step by step in my search for that exclusive example of an almost perfect Himalayan.
