Hi Don and Sophie, Long time no contact. Hope you have been keeping as happy as we remember you. After you left we had a few ups and downs, two groups split off and took the projects they were running with them - we nearly had to close a couple of time: but Bruce sold the last of his stock and we managed to keep the doors open. Then last summer (2004) he had a serious operation, from which he is still recovering; and pretty well. Then suddnely, last autumn (your season - Spring here) everything changed. A whole new batch of volunteers arrived, positive and dedicated, like we remember you were: and since then we have spread throughout Peru: now have centres in 6 cities, 20 schools in their barrios, and 800 really poor children in our programme. Even so, our current news is mixed, Our publicly available news can be found here: http://bruceperu.org Our other news is this: ' At the moment we are slowly sinking into the Pacific '. We need to ask you (along with our other friends), if you can squeeze us into your busy schedule to do a little fundraiser for us, because something recently happened which puts us in desperate need of a bit more help. Here is our explanation, and request: http://bruceperu.org/0katrinaperu.html If you can participate, great! If not, maybe you will disseminate this URL address as far and wide as possible, in the hope that someone somewhere will toss us a life line. We only need to survive until January, then we should be OK again. Hope this finds you two well and happy. |
