The homepage of genial Greek gentleman Gorgias Garofalakis, doctor of fine wines and luxurious banqueting, erstwhile defender of his nation, and currently embarking on a new career after a couple of years spent enjoying life as an international jet-setting playboy. Recognising his considerable talents for confabulation, plus the hypersensitive palate and robust digestion that led Pleasures Of The Table magazine to name him "The Gourmand's Gourmand" in 1996 and again in 1998, the shadowy international intelligence agency known only as 'the good food guide' have contracted him to spearhead the fight against a dastardly neo-marxist plot to undermine the globalised capitalist economy by infiltrating five star restaurants with kitchen staff of limited sensitivity. 'It may not seem like much of a threat', said a spokesman, 'but when important businessmen find their sauce béarnaise lacking in piquancy, or sevruga caviar served where ossetra was expected, it unsettles them and their business confidence takes a knock. The cumulative effect on market morale is incalculable'. In order to maintain a low profile, Dr Garofalakis prefers the sinisterly ambiguous job description 'consultant', but on close questioning described himself as 'a sort of Athenian Austin Powers'.
