HISTORIA

Grupo de proto-punk-rock, influidos por el garage y la psicodelia de The Doors. Formados en Ann Arbor (Michigan, USA) en 1967, por Iggy Pop (El padrino del punk; James Osterberg, 21 abril 1947, Muskegon, Michigan. Voz), Ron Asheton (guitarra), Scott Asheton (batería) y Dave Alexander (bajista). Sus primeros nombres fueron Prime Movers y The Iguanas. Fueron los pioneros del mito: "Sexo, droga y Rock´n´roll". Su primer disco fue producido por el Velvet Underground John Cale. Iggy tuvo problemas con la heroína. En 1970 James Williamson entra en el grupo de guitarrista, pasando Ron al bajo, ya que Alexander abandona el grupo. En 1972 la banda estaba prácticamente desmembrada y David Bowie les resucitó ayudándoles a elaborar un nuevo trabajo, a quitar a Iggy de la heroína y animarle a iniciar una carrera en solitario en 1977. En 2003 Iggy volvió a reunir a los Stooges para varios conciertos.
