ARCALÍS - 2240 m

    Start. Ordino

Access. Andorra - La Massana - Ordino

This is the second climb in Andorra in terms of heigh, but despite of that, it's not too tough. In the middle part, there's a steep section, just after a small town called El Serrat, at 10%, but getting there is not much complicated. After El Serrat, the road has a significant gradient, up to 7%.

Tunnel at 5km / Luisito&Javi near the top

But 4km later, it appears a dark tunnel where, at 2000m, we start some 180º bends which make the climb easier, with an average that never reaches 6%.

The big symbol of the mountain in the final km

Talking about the cassette, I recommend a 23 to cross El Serrat...but apart from that, a 39x21 is enough to get the summit where Jan Ullrich built his success in Tour '97.
