Side Jausiers

This is a really long one, but very pleasant. Almost 25km starting easy at 4-6% surrounding a landscape... well, not really alpine. But soon we'll get in touch with some U-turns, deep into the valley, with 6-7km done. So now landscape turns better, and the gradient, silently, arriving to 8%.

Jordi Rubio2 suffering first tough parts

The best is still to come. We keep going on, not really crossing any forest, but views looking nicer. The asphalt is good all the time, but evrything surrounding us is becoming marvellous. And now getting to half of the climb, with small lakes, mmm, let's enjoy this flat kilometer, we feel delighted.

This is me at 9km to the top

So after that, we are above 2000m, but gradient settles at 7-8%. Soon you arrive to a photo corner, like in the Alpe d'Huez. Again another short flat at 6km to go. But at this moment, you just enjoy the views, because the gradient lets you do this.

Just before the short flat at 6km to go

The last 3km are unique, with the double road to the top, which Napoleon built. The last kilometer, the hardest, 10% at 2800m height, but that doesn't matter.

Inside the last kilometer

So my point of view is clear for the highest surfaced road in the Alps. The most wonderful climb we've done. Not really tough, 39x25 is enough. Please enjoy it, a present for your eyes.

Well done!!!
