DEUX ALPES - 1650 m
Start. Bourg d'Oisans - Col du Lautaret
Access. Grenoble - Bourg d'Oisans - direction Briançon
This short and not hard climb start in the way to Col du Lautaret. It's not more than 7km without significant sections. First 2km are the hardest, between 7-8%, but after that we reach a samll town with a soft sction.
Then a 9% section welcomes us, but a few metres after this, the first of a mid-dozen 180º bends appears. These bends will feature the last part of the climb, with an average below 7%. The last km is almost flat.
Summit of Deux Alpes
To reach the end of the mountain, 39x21 will be enough, but if you feel tired, a 23 will be more comfortable. If you're really fit, you can try 52x23 (pro's did it when we visit this climb in Tour 2002 whn Botero won the stage). Apart from that, Deux Alpes is more of a city focussed on skiing than a climb to be distinguished as one of the hardest in the Alps.
