This one is really long, tough, and constant. Departing Susa, the road is quite wide for 2 kilometers, until reaching Meana. In a moment, we change from flat to 14%...everything a bit boring but really hard right now…

So passed Meana, we still have to face 12-15% for a while, before making it easy for a few hundreds. Before km4, we start the real Finestre. Very narrow road, totally covered by a dense forest. Completely hidden road, full of U-turns, always at 9-11%. Spectacular kilometres for this central part of the climb, just before two long straights which drive us to km9, where the asphalt ends, but not the climb itself.

Passed the first half, we enter to the myth. Up to 8 unasphalted kilometres, but rideable, and the gradient still between 9-11%. Very tough, but great. The road is getting clear now as the forest disappears. Less U-turns now, only last 3km there are a few more. In fact, it’s amazing that a mountain raced only once by professionals has become so important, but it’s justified.

Key moment: transition. Me in a slope

In a race pace, 39x23 could be fine, but 25 lets you make it funny. 18km, 9%, firstly good narrow asphalt, then ‘decent’ road. I recommend to visit it beginning July, a week after an amateur race, which leaves the road well. One of my favourites
