LUZ ARDIDEN - 1720 m
Start. Luz St.Sauveur
Access. Tarbes - Lourdes - Argeles-Gazost
A mountain with a Spanish flavour, their 13km with lots of 180º bends, even more than in Alpe d'Huez, make it really funny. The average gradient, between 7-8%, is certainly tough. Starting with 2km at 6%, maybe the easiest, it's when you're at Sazos that it turns into something hard...and in the next town, called Grust, that the steepest section starts, with 4km at 10%.

Just after Grust, we get into a forest where bends are a rest time among those long and steep straight sections. After that, there's 1'5km at 6-7%, and then tough again with 2km at 8-9%.

Last 2km are full of 180º bends, as you can see below, and softer in gradient.
These are the last meters
This is one of the most wonderful climbs in the Pyernees, as Hautacam. The surface is pefect and it's not more than an hour to reach the top. A 39x23 is enough, beause there aren't any sections up to 10%. There's only only flat section at 6km to go, the rest is quite hard.
