Pal is a very short climb, not more than 10km, and not the toughest in Adorra. Starting in La Massana very easy, it becomes hard after first 2 km at 5%, where we take a left to the ski station.
Luisito & Javi before Pal
It's in the central part where the hardest part arrives, after a small village. The gradient really changes to an interesting 7-8%, but the asphalt is good, so riding there is cool. Just done it, and we'll be very close to the top, 2km where you smell the summit. The average in this last section is 6-7%, so still keep on pushing hard. This part is very wide, so in windy days, it'll be difficult to ride.
In the podium
In general, not a very special climb, but another one. With a minimum training, you can easily do it with 39x21...but in Andorra I strongly recommend Rabassa, Cortals or Envalira.
So we are at 2km to the top of Pal, where a sign alerts us to make a right and climb towards Coll de la Botella and later to Port de Cabús. So in other words, instead of 2km to go, we have 8km, and the gradient will be around 8% til Botella, and easier, 6-7%, in the spectacular final part.
Luisito with Coll de la Botella far away
So road is wide and asphalt good. A pleasant mountain, 39x25 should be fine, but fit 23 I would recommend. One of the secret climbs in Andorra, and one of the most wonderful ones, because not everything is to go for 18% crazy sections.
Diego, Luisito y Javi a bit crazy for the finish
