Nice and not too complicated 13km climb, starting softly in a beauty forest. In fact, it's not until km4 that the road becomes hard, when reaching the small ville of Bourg d'Oueil. Before all this, hardly ever the gradient is up to 7%. But from that point on, when leaving the next village, St.Aventin, a long straight marks the place where we start pushing harder.

The road is quite wide, and the asphalt good, the landscape, still green is now free of trees, what makes the climb tough if it's really sunny, the gradiente is close to 10% in very limited places, enough to make it hard. The last kilometers arrive with a very regular gradient of 7%, not too steep, reaching at the summit one of the most famous Tour mountains, with some hairpins which make the final funny.
This climb is one of the easiest I've done in the Pyrenees, we can say it's sometimes boring. No specially tough sections, and you can do it relaxed with 39x23, even a 39x21 can work. It's a mountain you must have in your list.
Despite of the 10km between Arreau and start of the climb where the trend is to gain meters, the real Peyresourde has 10km, the first two quite flat, but the rest really tough. The average is 8% in this last part, bu very constant, only at 2km to go, there is a soft section of 200m long. From that point on, the road is very straight, eternal, never-ending climb.
Rafa attacked bravely, but the sun fused him. Do you guess why?
Only at the beginning, trees make their work, but they quickly disappear to build something like a green desert, with grass instead of sand. The asphalt is excellent, and the bends, well, not too many. So there is something of menthality to help or not make your live easier in this famous col.
Jose, Mario, Juanky & JR2 were close to RIP on the top
We made a Tour mini'stage with 4cols, and this ws the third one. We started at 15.30, and the maximum was close to 46º, so you guess why my evaluation is quite high for this side. So take a 39x23 and come on, there are no 10% sections!!!
